Comparison Structure Of Building, Between Sekadau and Pontinak

Assalamu’alaikum Wr. Wb. Back again with me in my blog. Next week is our English exam. As the requirement to pass the English examination, I have to make a speech about my major in Tanjungpura University . Now, I am studying at the Faculty of Engineering, Tanjungpura University. So, the next is my speech . . . !!!

 

Assalamu’alaikum Wr. Wb. Hello every body, good morning. How are you all? I hope you are doing good. Now, I am going to tell you about “Comparison Structure Of Building, Between Sekadau and Pontinak”. 

Well, before I tell you about my topic. First of all, I will tell you about the structure of building. What is the structure of building? In a building, there are two components of structure in building. It is upper structure and lower structure.

1.      Upper structure

 

The upper structure is the all part of the building structure that is above ground level. The upper structure consists by columns, plates, beams, and roofs.

 

a.      Column

       The function of the column is to forward the entire load of the upper structure in building to the foundation. It is constructed by using wood, steel, and concrete.

b. Beam

  A beam is a part of the structure used as a place of floor holder and column binder. It is constructed by using wood, steel, and concrete.

c. Platform

  Platform are floors that are not located above ground directly, so this is the  floor level. This Platform is supported by columns and beams. It is constructed by using wood, steel, and concrete.

d. Roof 

 
  The roof is the upper part of a building, which protects the building and its occupants from external disturbances such as rain, heat, bad climates and others.

2. Lower Structure

The lower structure is all parts of the building structure that is place under the ground level. It is foundation structure. The foundation is the part of the building structure that has function to hold entire load from upper structure.

Ok, back to the topic, what is the different structure of building, between Sekadau and Pontinak? The different is foundation. Why ? If you see the foundation structure of building in Pontianak,  you can see many stem woods that is place under plate of foundation.Why we use it? Because soil bearing capacity in Pontianak is very soft. So, to add strengh of soil bearing capacity in Pontianak we use stem woods. Its called cerucuk.

Different from Pontianak, if you see the foundation structure of building in Sekadau,  you can’t see the stem wood under plate of foundation. Because soil bearing capacity in Sekadau is very hard. So, we don’t need stem woods  to add strength of soil bearing capacity In Sekadau.
